When you read about an airplane accident, it’s easy to say, “I would never make that mistake” but usually, those accidents aren’t a result of one glaring obvious misstep, but a series of smaller decisions that culminate disastrously. This video, sent by one of our pilots, Johannes Tysse, illustrates how a chain of unwise choices can backfire.
For this pilot, everything turned out well, but a sudden catastrophe, coming completely out of nowhere, is rare. When you are making a go/no-go decision about a flight, remember the old adage, “It’s better to be on the ground wishing you were flying, than flying and wishing you were on the ground.”
